SCIENCE EDUCATION FOR ALL
About
Objective: To enhance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education and foster interest in science among elementary and high school students in rural Peru through interactive workshops, mentorship programs, and hands-on projects.
In 2022, Peru's poverty rate was over 30%. The capital of the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos has a higher poverty rate than the national average, and in the poorest areas, nearly 40% of children don't attend school. The intersection of high poverty and deforestation of the area have led to social conflict, along with illegal mining and nature conservation issues.
In rural areas of Peru, access to STEAM education is limited, contributing to lower student engagement and reduced opportunities for future careers in these fields.
